Super Seven #7 Saskia Jackson

Jan, 17

engineering, insights, quantum, software, team, work

In the seventh of our Super Seven Series we profile our Digital Marketing Intern, Saskia Jackson.  Saskia is a recent graduate of the University of Bristol who joined us a few weeks ago, adding so much value to our marketing efforts in such a short space of time – a difficult task when we’re all still working remotely.

1.  Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m Saskia, I’ve just finished my Physics Masters at University of Bristol. I love quantum and particle physics and really enjoy using code to solve problems!

2.  Why did you choose to study Physics at Bristol?

When I was younger, I went to a talk by Jim Al-Khalili on quantum biology and it was so cool that I bought the book and decided to study physics. The University of Bristol swayed me because the physics library was beautiful and old. I’m so glad it did as I quickly fell in love with the city!

3.  What does your internship at KETS involve?

I’m doing digital marketing which involves a wide range of projects from reviewing social media analytics to writing up papers in an understandable form to creating story boards to explain key concepts. It’s been very varied and exciting, I’m sad its over so soon!

4. What inspires you?

I’ve been really inspired by talking to all the KETS employees while updating the team bios. Everyone has had interesting careers and also a lot of fun hobbies on the side.

5.  What advice would you give someone wanting to get into your role.

Don’t be scared! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming that any doubts I had about it being too hard or not being good enough disappeared on the first day.

6. What do you do when you’re not at work?

In my spare time I like making, baking and painting things. I love painting birthday cards, calligraphy and I try to keep up a scrapbook, so I have something to look back at. I also try to always make time for music and cycling.

7. What’s the last book you read?

Fahrenheit 451. It was really interesting; I would definitely recommend!
