Super Seven #11 Gaetano De Martino
In the eleventh of our Super Seven Questions Series we profile our Electronic Design Engineer, Gaetano De Martino. Gaetano has been with us a year this month, having brought with him extensive electronics design and development experience. Not to mention his positive and enthusiastic attitude which is a joy to be around.
1. Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I was born and raised in the South of Italy, Castellammare di Stabia, Naples. I’m a graduate in electronic engineering at University of Naples Federico II. I have worked in different places and moved to Bristol few years ago where I have met fantastic people and worked mostly on the RF/Microwave field. I consider Bristol my second home.
I like socialising, travelling, swimming, cooking, and riding Vespa scooters on a nice sunny day.
2. What’s your role in KETS?
I’m an electronics design engineer. My job involves High speed electronic, RF design, Analogue and Digital electronic hardware design, PCB layout design and a bit of Firmware development.
3. What’s the most enjoyable part of your job?
The most enjoyable part of my job is to face the challenge of a new technology, it pushes me and my senses to full potential and feeling a sense of accomplishment when things are working. Creativity plays an important role too.
I enjoy working with my colleagues, everyone shares the same vision and is dedicated to the mission, it makes my work the best learning environment.
4. What inspires you?
First my Dad, he taught me to never give up and move forward towards my dreams and goals.
I’m inspired by people that believe in themselves, are motivated and ambitious.
5. What advice would you give someone wanting to get into your role.
Be enthusiastic and always be open to learn new things. There are always problems to solve.
6. What do you do when you’re not at work?
I spend time with my family, especially with my little son. I watch football when it’s on and I try to spend as much time as I can outdoors, especially when the weather is nice. I love listening to music and cooking and I should do more physical exercise 😊.
7. Where’s your favourite place?
I do not have a specific favourite place, I love all the places with a nice seaside view, it reminds me my hometown.
