KETS at the Bristol Quantum Information Technologies (BQIT) Workshop 2018

Around 200 quantum scientists, engineers, mathematicians and industrial experts from around the world descended upon Bristol earlier this month for the fifth annual Bristol Quantum Information Technologies (BQIT) workshop hosted by the University of Bristol.

The workshop included, as always, an industry perspective of quantum technologies – with updates on our Innovate UK project (Q-DOS Lite) presented by our partners, Airbus. We also heard from the Bristol based Quantum Technology Enterprise Centre (QTEC) and the new Quantum Technology Innovation Centre (QTIC) and there was a particularly energetic discussion around UKRI’s plan for the next phase of the National Quantum Technology Programme.

KETS was honoured to be one of the event sponsors and provide the prize for best poster, which, after much deliberation was awarded to Carmen Palacios Berraquero from the University of Cambridge for her work on deterministic single photon sources on a chip, with honourable mentions also going to Bristol’s Felipe Ortiz-Huerta and Stasja Stanisic.

Chris Erven, KETS CEO said “The standard of work on display and the technical communication skills demonstrated by each poster was outstanding – choosing a winner was very difficult indeed. Bristol is KETS’ home and having been part of the brilliant work going on in QETLabs for many years, it was amazing for us to be able to attend as a sponsor this year.”

 

 

 

The Bristol Quantum Information Technologies workshop, is a venture by the University of Bristol’s Quantum Engineering Technology Labs, whose aim is to deliver a radically new generation of machines that exploit quantum physics to transform our lives, society and economy.
